Documentation / Branches
What is a branch?
A branch is a copy of your tree in which you can try something without touching the real tree. Think of it as scrap paper for your research.
The idea
Say you think two Jan Willem Hoogendijks are really one person, but you are not sure. You do not have to choose between “leave it” and “go ahead”. You make a branch and try it there.
Your normal tree is called the Main line. While you work in a branch, your changes stay apart there. Only when you want it do they go into the main line.
Where to find them
Choose Window, Branches. It lists the main line and every branch with its status: active, in review, merged or discarded.
