Turning on AI
AI is optional and off by default. While it is off, Stambeam works exactly as without AI: no AI menu, no network traffic and no key is read.
Turning it on
- 1Open the settings
Choose File, Settings… and then AI. - 2Turn AI on
Turn on Use AI in Stambeam. - 3Choose a connection
Under Connection you choose how Stambeam talks to the AI. See the part “Choosing an AI connection”. - 4Turn AI on for this tree
Also turn on Use AI for “name of your tree”. Without it a tree sends nothing, even when AI is on in general.
What you get
An AI menu appears. It holds Assistant, AI proposals, Research assistant and AI settings….
AI only makes suggestions. Nothing in your tree changes unless you approve it. For a proposal you choose Accept, Reject or Later.
What AI can do for you
- Judge duplicate people.
- Convert notes to fields, such as occupation, religion or residence.
- Search in plain language, such as “all women who married before the age of 20 in Friesland”.
- Find connections with the research assistant.
- Write a life story from the facts and sources of a deceased person.
- Transcribe a record.
