Catching mistakes
Stambeam checks your data while you enter it. That way you notice a child who seems to be born after the death of their mother before the mistake stays in your research.
Looking at the findings
- 1Open the checks
Choose Tools, Checks. At the top you see how many errors, warnings and notes there are. - 2Read the finding
Each finding explains what is wrong, for example that a mother was too young at the birth. - 3Fix it or ignore it
Change the data, or choose Ignore. With Ignore for this person you give a reason, so a special case does not keep bothering you. - 4Check again
Click Check again to refresh the list.
Adjusting the rules
Under Tools, Rules you decide how strict a rule is: Error, Warning, Note or Off. You can also add rules of your own, such as “date A is before date B”.
A rule at level Error can stop a piece of data from being saved. If you do not want that, set it to Warning.
