Documentation / AI
What goes to the AI?
You always see first what will be sent. Living people are never sent in a recognisable way.
Living people
Before data leaves, Stambeam removes everything by which a living person can be recognised. Under Living persons you choose how:
- Pseudonym (Person A, years only): a living person is then called, for example, “Person A” and you only see years. The answer is translated back afterwards.
- Leave out: the person is not sent at all.
- Notes of living people are not sent, and their names in other texts are replaced.
The preview
For every AI action the window This will be sent appears. You see the data, the number of tokens (pieces of text) and the estimated cost. Click Send or Cancel. Nothing leaves without your click.
Scans and screenshots are an exception: they go along unchanged and cannot be shielded. You get a separate warning for them.
Keeping the cost in hand
- Set a Monthly budget (€). Once it is reached, AI stops.
- With Confirm above (€ per action) Stambeam asks for confirmation on a more expensive action.
- You see how much you have spent this month. With a subscription through Claude Code or Codex there is no cost per question.
- If you want to be able to check afterwards what was sent, turn on Keep sent data in this tree (for checking).
