Stambeam is in beta and free until the beta ends. After that the app will probably be paid. What this means

Documentation / Working together

Inviting people and giving access

You decide who sees which part of your tree and whether that person may only read or also edit. Living people are shielded by default.

Inviting someone

Every new user gets an invitation code from the hub administrator. Such a code is single-use and valid for 7 days. The administrator makes it with a command on the hub; how that works is in the hub manual (BEHEER).

  1. 1
    Pass on the code
Pass the code on through a channel you trust.
  2. 2
The other person makes an account
In Stambeam they choose Settings, Hub, Add hub, fill in the address of the hub and the Invitation code, and choose a user name and password themselves.

Sharing a part

  1. 1
    Open sharing
Open the linked tree and choose Settings, Hub, Share. Only the owner of the tree can share it.
  2. 2
    Make a new share
Choose New share and fill in the Recipient (the account on the hub).
  3. 3
    Choose the part
Under Part choose Whole tree, Group, Descendants or Ancestors of a person (optionally a number of generations).
  4. 4
    Choose the right
Under Right choose whether the other person may Read or also Edit.
  5. 5
    Save
If you like, set until when the access applies, and click Save.

Revoking access

With Revoke the access stops at once. You can also ask for the data on the other person’s computer to be removed, but that only works if their Stambeam still connects. A copy the other person made themselves stays.

What you see when others work along

If two people change the same field, it shows up under To review. You choose which value stays; Stambeam never chooses for you. What others share with you is under Shared with me.
