Sources and records

A source shows where a piece of information comes from, such as a record, a book or a website. That way you still know later why you believed something.

Linking a source

  1. 1
    Open the person
Choose the person and go to the Person tab of the person card.
  2. 2
    Click at the fact
At an event, such as the birth, click no source or the number of sources.
  3. 3
    Find or make the source
Type a title at Find or create a source…. If the source does not exist yet, choose New source.
  4. 4
    Fill in the details
You can fill in the page, the record number and the Quality: Unreliable, Doubtful, Probable or Certain.

All your sources in one list

Under Window, Sources is the list of all your sources. For each source you can keep the title, author, publisher, the archive or repository, the inventory number, a web address and a note. You also see in how many places the source is used.

You put scans and photos on the Media tab of the person card. All media together are under Window, Media.

Searching archives

The person card has a Search archives button. It searches Open Archives (openarchieven.nl), but only when you click Search. A record you find can be taken over as a source with Take over as source.
