Viewing the family tree

The family tree draws the ancestors and descendants of the selected person, in different ways. You choose what you want to see.

Choosing a view

    Open the tree
    Choose View, Family tree and click a person.

    Choose the kind
    Choose Pedigree (ancestors), Descendants, Hourglass (both directions), Fan or Butterfly.

    Move around the tree
    Drag on an empty spot to move, scroll to zoom. Click a card to select that person, double-click to open them.

The fan

The fan shows your ancestors per generation in one circle. Empty spots show who you do not know yet; click one to add a father or mother. You choose the shape (Half, Fan, Full) and the colour (By branch, Sex, Completeness).

Your own layout

  • Choose per zoom level what the cards show, such as the place of birth.
  • Drag a card to a place of its own. Reset cards puts everything back.
  • Save the tree as an image or PDF with the button Save tree as image or PDF.
